Mismatch repair gene hMSH2 is a ubiquitous gene encoding the mismatch repair protein (MMR) known as MutS protein homolog 2 (MSH2). MSH2 is utilized by normal proliferating cells to repair point mutations that may occur during DNA replication. Antibodies to MSH2 are a useful aid for classification of colorectal cancer.
