Reacts with the 40 kDa protein corresponding to cytokeratin 19. The antibody labels many types of simple and non-keratinizing epithelia, including ductal and glandular epithelia. The antibody is a useful aid for classification of tumors of epithelial origin.

Specificity	In Western blotting of cytoskeleton preparations from the T24 and RT4 cell lines as well as the human squamous carcinoma cell line HaCaT, the antibody labels a single band corresponding to CK19 (1). In immunohistochemistry on different human tissues, the antibody labels only epithelia, whereas cells known not to contain CK19, e.g. hepatocytes, are not labeled (1).
