CD19 is the broadest lineage-specific surface marker for B cells. CD19 is present on the surface of virtually all B lymphocytes, including early B-progenitor cells, but it is lost upon terminal differentiation to plasma cells. CD19 is also expressed on follicular dendritic cells. Results aid in the classification of B-lineage leukemias and lymphomas.
