Reacts with the BCL2 oncoprotein encoded by a gene involved in the t(14;18) chromosomal translocation. The BCL2 oncoprotein plays a central role in apoptosis. The antibody may be a useful aid for classification of follicular lymphomas and various diffuse lymphoproliferative diseases (1).

Specificity	In Western blotting of extracts of normal human spleen (1, 6), t(14;18)-positive follicular lymphoma (1), and myloid leukemia cell lines (6) the antibody labels a band of 26 kDa, corresponding to BCL2 oncoprotein under both nonreducing (1) and reducing conditions (1, 6). The antibody labels the myeloid leukemia cell lines, HL-60 (promyelocytic), KG1 (myeloblastic), GM-1 (monoblastic) and K562 (erythromyeloid) (6). See package insert for reference(s).
