Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS) in the 990 Micro GC
The 990 Micro GC contains a (heated) micro-machined injector, serving a variable timed loop. This allows extremely precise injection of very small sample volumes, without the need for splitting, in a compact format. The micro GC detector is a ”TCD on a chip.” It has a much smaller internal volume compared to classical thermal conductivity detectors, which negates the need for make-up gas, resulting in better sensitivities. Lower detection limits in the sub-ppm region are achievable, depending on column chemistry and compound of interest.
