Mycotoxins are a specific class of natural biotoxins produced by some fungi, such as Penicillium, Aspergillus, etc. These secondary metabolites are harmful to humans and animals and can enter the food chain via contaminated crops, fruits, or processed food and animal feed products. In recent years mycotoxins are not only the focus of animal feed, crop, and other processed food testing, but also of cannabis testing. An increasing number of agencies are requiring testing for mycotoxins in cannabis and processed cannabis–containing foods. Agilent provides the reference materials needed to help ensure food safety.
