Ultra Inert HPLC Columns

Blocks active metal sites in the analyte flow path, unlocking the performance potential of the stationary phase.

The new Altura family of HPLC columns feature novel Ultra Inert technology that blocks active metal sites in the analyte flow path, unlocking the performance potential of the stationary phase. Ultra Inert LC column technology, where an inert coating is applied to stainless steel column hardware, eliminates interaction between analytes and column hardware while maintaining the strength, pressure tolerance, and consistency of stainless steel.

Agilent Altura HPLC columns equilibrate faster, and produce more symmetrical chromatographic peak shape, reduced carryover, higher signal response, and better sensitivity for metal-sensitive analytes.

Piotr Alvarez

Senior Scientist, RIC Group

The deactivated HILIC-Z column substantially reduced the undesired analyte-surface interactions in the analysis of GLP-1 receptor agonist drug products. We observed at least a 30% increase in sensitivity and reduction in peak tailing for the analysis of acidic peptides and excipients. Peptide impurities eluting in the peak tail were hardly detectable when using conventional stainless steel hardware.
