Surfactant Quantitation vs. Surfactant Profiling
Surfactant quantitation is an established method typically performed with mixed-mode chromatography. The surfactant elutes as a single peak, facilitating easy quantitation, however, degradants elute in the void volume, rendering it less suitable for profiling. Surfactant profiling, an emerging method, fully characterizes surfactants including degradants which occur by hydrolysis or oxidation in biotherapeutic formulations. This method detects problems early, enabling mitigation steps and preventing costly quality issues in manufacturing.
