At the core of the STS is a grounded torch shield plate, strategically positioned between the work/load coil and the torch. This design eliminates capacitive coupling, maintaining the plasma at ground potential for stable and accurate performance.
The Agilent torch bonnet, made of durable quartz, provides thermal protection for the torch shield against the plasma temperature.
Replacement parts for the long-life platinum torch shield plate and torch bonnet are readily available to maintain peak performance. They offer long-lasting performance and supports cool plasma mode, minimizing background interference for ultratrace detection of elements like K, Ca, and Fe. The STS also effectively controls the ion energy spread, optimizing polyatomic ion behavior in the ORS cell for successful interference removal.
