As a busy lab technician, you know that maintaining your diagnostic systems can be time consuming. As a global leader in spectroscopy and chromatography, Agilent can streamline your parts and service procurement needs by being your single source for parts, consumables and services for your PerkinElmer AA, ICP-OES, and ICP-MS systems. (Figure 1). Agilent makes it convenient to order all of the parts in your workflow for optimized performance, while providing easy access to the services that will keep your lab running smoothly. Bottom line? Now you can take advantage of Agilent as the single point of contact for all your PerkinElmer needs.

Superior performance of Agilent OneNeb in a PerkinElmer ICP-OES

The Agilent range of supplies for PerkinElmer systems includes innovative products that can help you improve both performance and productivity in your lab. For example, the revolutionary OneNeb nebulizer, available exclusively from Agilent, uses Flow Blurring nebulization to generate a fine aerosol for improved sensitivity and reduced blockages. The OneNeb is virtually indestructible and inert, so it can handle all samples, including HF digests and common organic solvents. It also provides superb tolerance to dissolved solids. Agilent OneNeb is a direct replacement for both conventional glass concentric and inert nebulizers used with PerkinElmer ICP-OES systems, and is compatible with glass cyclonic and inert spray chambers used with the PerkinElmer ICP-OES systems.

Figure 2. Comparison of nebulizer sensitivity for a 10x dilution of mixed calibration standard in a 5% NaCI matrix.

We demonstrated the performance of Agilent OneNeb by comparing it with other common nebulizers used with the PerkinElmer Optima ICP-OES. Figure 2 shows the relative sensitivity for a 10x dilution of a PerkinElmer multi-element standard prepared in 5% NaCl. This solution was measured using common nebulizers used with the Optima 7300 DV ICP-OES, equipped with a Scott spray chamber. Each nebulizer was operated at the recommended conditions for this type of matrix. The intensities obtained using the OneNeb ranged from 50 to 240% larger than the nearest nebulizer for this 5% NaCl matrix.

The Agilent Multimode Sample Introduction System (MSIS) enables simultaneous determination of routine elements using conventional nebulization, and the environmentally sensitive elements, including As, Se, and Hg, using hydride generation. As the same setup is used, this eliminates the need to change-over to a dedicated hydride system to determine these elements at low ppb levels (Table 1). This saves valuable analysis time and simplifies your sample analysis workflow by eliminating the need for a second sample digest specifically for hydride determinations.

Hg 194.168 1.3 0.2
Se 196.026 12.0 0.5
