Analytische Herausforderungen im Material- und Umweltbereich
Die Umwelt- und Materialforschung steht vor zentralen Herausforderungen: Wie lassen sich PFAS zuverlässig nachweisen, Nano- und Mikropartikel in komplexen Proben identifizieren und nachhaltige Materialien entwickeln? Gemeinsam mit dem μ3 Forschungszentrum Soers der RWTH Aachen widmet sich das diesjährige Seminar diesen Fragen und stellt aktuelle analytische Lösungen vor – von der Detektion persistenter Stoffe über moderne Screening- und Hochdurchsatzmethoden bis hin zu Kopplungstechniken, die detaillierte Einblicke in Zusammensetzung, Partikelgrößen und Alterungsprozesse ermöglichen. Dabei wird gezeigt, wie innovative Verfahren das Verständnis komplexer Matrizes verbessern, Ressourcen schonen und die Entwicklung nachhaltiger Werkstoffe vorantreiben.

EMBO Workshop – Lipid Code to Life
Modern lipid biology has evolved far beyond the traditional view of lipids as simple building blocks or energy substrates. Lipids are now recognised as dynamic regulators of biological structures and functions. This progress has been driven by remarkable advancements in technologies and experimental tools, which are uncovering new perspectives on lipid functions and their role in organising biological systems. To further advance the field, it is essential to unravel not only the collective properties of lipids but also their structural and functional interactions with proteins in complex biological processes. The EMBO Workshop "Lipid Code to Life" will bring together leading scientists and early-career researchers from diverse disciplines—including lipidomics, chemical biology, structural biology, and membrane biophysics—to discuss the latest discoveries in lipid functions, quality control, and lipid-protein interactions. This EMBO Workshop is designed to create a dynamic and collaborative environment where participants can exchange ideas, build networks, and foster collaborations. By bringing together expertise from a wide range of intersecting fields, our aim is to propel lipid biology forward, driving innovation, new synergies, and growth in this rapidly advancing area of research.

Mülheimer Wasseranalytisches Seminar (MWAS 2026)
Die Wasseranalytik profitiert von vielfältigen Innovationen durch Gerätehersteller und Anwendende. Neue Methoden mit kreativen Ansätzen ergänzen die „analytische Brille“ und erweitern den Blick auf das enorme Stoffspektrum. Gleichzeitig ist der Trend ungebrochen, die Leistungsfähigkeit bestehender wasseranalytischer Verfahren zu steigern. Die analytische Erfassung von Stoffgruppen wie der poly- und perfluorierten Alkylverbindungen aber auch von Pflanzenschutzmittel-Metaboliten erfordert weiterhin neue Lösungen. Zunehmend muss auch bei Analyseverfahren der Anspruch reduzierten Ressourcenverbrauchs, z. B. durch Miniaturisierung und Automatisierung erfüllt werden. Es besteht also weiterhin großer Bedarf für Innovationen, über die Hersteller, Anwendende, Wissenschaftler und Wissenschaftlerinnen auf dem MWAS 2026 in Mülheim berichten.
