Activated Phycobiliproteins

Activated Phycobiliproteins can be easily conjugated to antibodies and other proteins without the use of added chemical crosslinking agents. These highly purified phycobiliproteins maintain their spectral characteristics when conjugated. Agilent Activated Phycobiliproteins have been treated with SMCC which reacts with their lysine groups, leaving maleimide groups available to react with free sulfhydryl groups on proteins to be conjugated to them. They are ready to use and will conjugate without further preparation upon mixing with sulfhydryl-containing targets.

Features

Agilent RPE activated with SMCC (succinimidyl 4-[N-maleimidomethyl]-cyclohexane-1-carboxylate). After a buffer exchange step, the product was filtered using a 0.45 µm membrane and stored in a sterile container. Activated R-PE can be easily conjugated to antibodies and other proteins by conventional protein cross-linking techniques without altering its spectral characteristics (see conjugation kit PJ31K).
Agilent GT5 APC (Spirulina platensis) crosslinked and then activated with SMCC (succinimidyl 4-[N-maleimidomethyl]-cyclohexane-1-carboxylate). After a buffer exchange step, the product was filtered using a 0.45 µm membrane and stored in a sterile container. Activated APC can be easily conjugated to antibodies and other proteins by conventional protein cross-linking techniques without altering its spectral characteristics.
