Plasma Cell

Human p63 is a 63 kDa non-glycosylated, reversibly palmitoylated type ll transmembrane protein found in plasma cells and epithelium. The p63 protein has a currently unknown function, but because of its homology to both rat and swine proteins, its abundance in secretory cells, and its localization to the rough endoplasmic reticulum, a conserved role in protein processing or secretion is suggested.
