CD42b

CD42b is a 145 kDa protein expressed on platelets and megakaryocytes. CD42a, CD42b, CD42c and CD42d form a complex in the platelet plasma membrane which serves as a receptor for von Willebrand factor and thrombin, and mediates adhesion of platelets to subendothelial matrices exposed upon damage to the endothelium. The binding sites for von Willebrand factor and thrombin lies on CD42b.
