Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES)

Know Your Lab Will Be Productive and Your Results Reliable

Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES), also known as Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-AES), is a well-established technique for determining elements in a wide variety of samples. To learn more about it, check out our FAQs in the Learning Tools box.

Agilent ICP-OES systems are packed with smart functions, both in the hardware and the software, that deliver reliable analytical results and slash wasted time in the lab. Analysts will know exactly when cleaning or routine maintenance of their ICP-OES or ICP-AES is required, thanks to sensors built into the system. Lab managers will know that the results from their ICP-OES system are accurate thanks to algorithms that find interferences and provide backup results.

Whatever your lab needs, you are sure to find the right ICP-OES here. If you need some help or have a question, contact us via one of the links on the product pages; we’d love to help you out.

August Meng

Principle Engineer, American Battery Technology Company

We are using the Agilent 5800 ICP-OES to support our primary battery metal extraction and lithium-ion battery recycling projects. The 5800 ICP-OES and its sensitive axial view enables dependable trace impurity analyses. The Vertical Dual View package allows us to consistently and accurately quantify target analytes (Li, Ni, Co and Mn) as well as trace element impurities with high salt concentration in the matrix. Trace impurity analysis of battery metals is critical as these impurities (e.g., Fe, Zn) significantly affect the performance and safety of lithium-ion batteries.
