SIRA Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1. When does the 1-year proposal period begin and what happens afterwards?
- The 1-year proposal period nominally begins when you receive your official award letter from Agilent University Relations (date on letter). After one year from the start date, you can either return or purchase the instruments at a reduced price. Agilent will pay for all the costs associated with removing and sending the instrument back to our facilities if returned.
2. Is the winner allowed to publish results and acknowledge Agilent contributions?
- Yes, you are allowed to make use of the data as you deem fit. Agilent would also greatly appreciate any acknowledgements you consider appropriate. If so, a suggested statement would be "We acknowledge instrument and technical support from the Agilent Solutions Innovation Research Award (SIRA) program for this research.
3. Who is eligible for the SIRA?
- Applicants must hold a faculty appointment at a degree-granting academic institution or nonprofit research institute in North America and be granted authority to be the principal investigator on research contracts. Students and postdoctoral fellows are not eligible.
4. Will I be supplied with the needed accessories to run the instrument?
- Consumables, installation, and application consulting will be included with the instrument.
5. Is installation, service, and support provided during the one-year research period?
- Yes. Installation, instrument training, and technical support are included.
