Designer Drugs
Rapid Screening & Identification Of Designer Drugs
Designer drugs are compounds which are chemically and pharmacologically similar to controlled substances that are formulated specifically in an attempt to bypass existing drug laws and regulations. These compounds are often a threat to human health and have been known to be lethal. Analyses of these compounds can be difficult in bulk format as well as in body fluids.
In order to facilitate rapid screening and the subsequent identification of these compounds, Agilent has expanded its Forensic Toxicology Application Compendium (For Forensic Use only) and the accompanying Essential GC/MS Designer Drug Kit (For Forensic Use only) with a library of synthetic cannabinoids that includes designer stimulants ("bath salts"). The updated compendium and library also contain information regarding GC/QQQ and GC/Ion Trap analysis of these designer drugs.
