Monitoring Stem Cell Metabolic Profiles and Switching

The reprogramming of somatic cells, such as fibroblasts, to a pluripotent state has a dramatic effect on the metabolic requirements of the cell, inducing a cancer-like (Warburg) metabolic shift from oxidative phosphorylation to glycolysis. There is increasing evidence illustrating that the metabolic shift in cells, such as induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), has a significant importance in establishing pluripotent identity. Using Agilent Cell Analysis technology, researchers are uncovering the mechanisms involved in cellular reprogramming of stem cells.
