Agilent Technologies Inc. and Sound Analytics, LLC, today announced a collaboration to deliver an integrated liquid chromatography–triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (LC/MS) workflow designed to support drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics (DMPK) laboratories in biopharma and pharmaceutical research.
The joint solution combines Agilent’s 1290 Infinity III Liquid Chromatography system and 6495D triple quadrupole mass spectrometer with LeadScape™ for Agilent software, developed by Sound Analytics. Together, the systems are designed to help DMPK laboratories improve efficiency, data quality, and ease of adoption within existing workflows.
“As biopharma and pharmaceutical organizations work to accelerate drug development timelines, DMPK laboratories face increasing pressure to generate high‑quality data quickly and reliably,” said Iris Mangelschots, vice president and general manager of the Liquid Phase Division at Agilent. “This collaboration reflects Agilent’s focus on delivering integrated analytical workflows that help scientists move from detection to decision with confidence.”
The integrated workflow enables DMPK laboratories to utilize Agilent’s LC and triple quadrupole MS systems alongside LeadScape for Agilent software, supporting routine and high‑throughput drug metabolism analysis within established laboratory workflows. The solution is designed to help laboratories balance sensitivity, speed, and robustness with system uptime and ease of operation.
“Sound Analytics has a long history of supporting efficient workflows for DMPK laboratories,” said Wayne Lootsma, president of Sound Analytics. “Working with Agilent allows us to expand the options available to LeadScape users by combining our software with reliable, high‑performance LC/MS systems, helping laboratories integrate new tools within established workflows.”
The collaboration addresses the needs of DMPK laboratories worldwide, where drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics groups play a central role in drug discovery and development across biopharma and pharmaceutical companies, as well as contract research organizations.
By combining Agilent’s analytical instrumentation with Sound Analytics’ workflow software, the companies aim to lower adoption barriers for DMPK laboratories and support more efficient drug development by enabling integrated, workflow‑focused LC/MS solutions.
