  • Recombinant from Clostridium perfringens, expressed in E. coli. Formerly known as product code GE24. Sialidases are also known as neuraminidases.
Enzyme Specific Activity
  • ≥40 units/mg
Enzyme Specificity
  • This enzyme releases a2-3, and a2-6 linked N-acetylneuraminic acid from complex carbohydrates. This enzyme will not efficiently cleave NeuAc a2-6 linked to N-acetylgalactosamine (GalNAc) when the GalNAc is labeled with a fluorophore. Sialidase A (GK80040) is recommended for this application.

  • One unit is defined as the amount of enzyme required to catalyze the release of 1 μmole of p-nitrophenol from p-nitrophenyl-α-D-N-acetylneuraminic acid per minute at 37°C, pH 5.5
