Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) announced today that it has received the 2018 IBO Industrial Design Gold Award for the Ultivo Triple Quadrupole LC/MS System from Instrument Business Outlook (IBO).

The award recognizes excellence in the industrial design of an analytical instrument, and how industrial design can improve a product's functionality and the end user's experience.

"The Ultivo triple quadrupole MS system is a major leap forward in instrument size reduction and, consequently, utility. Blending form and function, the system maintains the performance capabilities of a standard triple quadrupole MS system," said Tanya Samazan, managing editor, at IBO.

"We are honored to receive this award," said Monty Benefiel, Agilent vice president and general manager of the company's Mass Spectrometry Division. "Ultivo is truly a transformative approach in LC/TQ, incorporating product innovations that provide our customers new value and competitive advantage both economically and environmentally."

Ultivo is 70% smaller than previous instruments, and the optional stackable configuration, incorporating the MS into the LC stack, saves additional lab space. Ultivo's hardware and software innovations are designed to deliver even better business results for customers. Innovations that include greater ion transmission efficiency leading to optimized sensitivity; and improved, intelligent diagnostics that use intuitive readbacks to quickly identify issues, ensuring optimum uptime. Furthermore, Ultivo's new VacShield vacuum provides vent-less ion injector exchange capabilities that reduce wear and tear and facilitate rapid front-end maintenance.
