Agilent 1100/1200 Firmware for Emulation Mode

Content This firmware set provides specific firmware for some new Agilent 1200 series modules that should be used in the "1100 emulation mode":

 

G1312B High Speed Binary Pump BIN-SL
G1314B/C Variable Wavelength Detector VWD / VWD-SL
G1316B Thermostatted Column Compartment TCC-SL
G1367B/C High Performance Autosampler hp-ALS / hp-ALS-SL

If you have to use an Agilent ChemStation below B.02.01 or a 3rd party control software that cannot work with the instruments listed above, you can use the "Emulation Mode" to make the modules compatible with your current control software.

If for example a G1312A pump is replaced by a new G1312B SL pump, you can use the new pump without installing and validating new control software. There is a set of firmware files available, which let the above listed modules act like their 1100 equivalent modules.

Below special "emulation firmware" is for four specific firmware sets of the G1312B SL pump and G1314 VWDs (see special informtion below). All other modules use the standard "A" module firmware of the same set:

  • G1312B_A601_02 for set A.06.01
  • G1312B_A512_02 for set A.05.11/12
  • G1312B_A510_02 for set A.05.06/10
  • G1312B_A501_02 for set A.05.01/03
     
  • G1314A A.05.11 [020] for set A.05.11/12
  • G1314A A.05.06 [020] for set A.05.06/10
  • G1314A A.05.04 [020] for set A.05.04/05
  • G1314A A.05.03 [020] for set A.05.01/03
    Based on G1314A5xx_xx of same set. Instruments shipped with new main boards G1314-66526/-66532 starting with serial number DE71455350 (G1314C) and DE71358600 (G1314B) end of March 2007 have a new memory chip (FPGA) and work with firmware A.06.02 and above. Both instruments (G1314B/C) must be converted to “A“ version and then downgraded to this “emulation“ version when used with A.05.xx firmware on other 1100/1200 series modules. See FWUPDATE.PDF coming with the LAN/RS-232 Firmware Update Tool for details on emulation / downgrade information. Also older G1314A/B/C that got a new main board installed are effected.
  1. Download only the required firmware and the README.PDF.
  2. Read the document README first.
  3. Use only the LAN/RS-232 Firmware Update Tool 2.10 [003] or above to downgrade the modules (resident and main firmware). Older revisions do not support the type change of the module plus the downgrade.
  4. Carefully read the documentation that comes with the LAN/RS-232 Firmware Update Tool.

When downgrading to 1312B_A601 or 1312B_A512 or 1312B_A510 or 1312B_A501 the corresponding resident firmware (res_601 or res_A511 or res_A508 or res_A501) must be installed. Otherwise the interface protocols do not match.

If you have to "downgrade" a 1200 system with G1312B, G1314B/C, G1316B and G1367B/C, do the following steps using the LAN/RS-232 Firmware Update Tool 2.1 (or above):

  1. Rename G1314, G1316 and G1367 to "A".
  2. Downgrade the firmware of G1312, G1314, G1316 and G1367.
  3. Rename G1312B to G1312A.
Upgrade is done in the normal way:
  1. Rename all modules to B/C.
  2. Upgrade the firmware of all modules to A.06.02 or above.

If you need a different firmware revision, return to the overview page for 1100/1200 modules firmware and select the required revision (refer to section "Downgrade of Agilent 1100/1200 Modules" in the document FWUpdate for information on restrictions).

The firmware update tools are not available in this set. Return to the overview page for 1100/1200 modules firmware and select "Agilent 1100/1200 Systems FW Update Tools" for more information on the tools and procedures.
