ABSTRACT The rate of cellular ATP production is a powerful and straightforward measurement of energy metabolism. This webinar will discuss how OCR and ECAR can be easily converted into rates of mitochondrial and glycolytic ATP production. This routine method calculates both the total ATP production rate as well as the quantitative balance between oxidative phosphorylation and glycolysis. Examples will be presented for how this research method can reveal rich information in the contexts of cancer cell biology, immune cell activation, and neuronal physiology.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
  • Conversion of OCR and ECAR into ATP production rates from oxidative phosphorylation and glycolysis
  • Examples of how ATP production rates can provide valuable insight beyond static ATP levels or OCR/ECAR ratios
  • Demonstrations of ATP production rates in cancer, immunology, and neuroscience research
