Agilent Seahorse XF analyzers utilize a patented transient microchamber, which enables sensitive, precise, and nondestructive metabolic measurements in real time.
Seahorse XF analyzers make use of a disposable sensor cartridge. The sensor contains two fluorophores, one for oxygen (O
2) and the other for pH. The measurements are accomplished by the instrument sensor cartridge being lowered to 200 microns above the cells, creating the transient microchamber. Changes in oxygen concentration and pH are automatically calculated and reported as Oxygen Consumption Rate (OCR) and Proton Efflux Rate (PER) in real time, enabling time-resolved, kinetic data of cell metabolism.
