We recently installed a new Agilent QQQ LC-MS (6495C) for EPA Method 1633 PFAS analysis. I am consistently having trouble getting the most of the FTS compounds to pass the ICAL criteria. I have already tried Fresh ICAL standards, New mobile phases and solvents, Freshly prepared solutions but the issue still persists.

I am working with EPA Method 524.2 using an Agilent 7890A GC-MS and a Teledyne Tekmar Atomx/Aquatek LVA purge and trap. My calibration curve for regulated volatile organic compounds (VOCs) ranges from 2, 5, 10, 20, to 50 ppb. My fortification solution containing the internal standards and surrogates is prepared as follows: from a 2000 ppm stock solution, I take a 0.125 mL aliquot and dilute it to 10 mL with methanol, yielding a final concentration of 25 ppm. For every 5 mL of sample, the purge and trap add 5 µL of this solution, resulting in a final concentration of 25 ppb. My calibration curve (2–50 ppb) is prepared as follows: PDS #1 (10.0 ppm): Prepared with a 0.125 mL aliquot of the 2000 ppm VOC stock diluted to 25 mL. PDS #2 (1.0 ppm): Prepared with a 2.5 mL aliquot of PDS #1 diluted to 25 mL. For the calibration standards, I prepare the following in 100 mL: 2 ppb: 0.200 mL of PDS #2 (1.0 ppm) 5 ppb: 0.500 mL of PDS #2 (1.0 ppm) 10.0 ppb: 1.0 mL of PDS #2 (1.0 ppm) 20.0 ppb: 0.200 mL of PDS #1 (10.0 ppm) 50.0 ppb: 0.500 mL of PDS #1 (10.0 ppm) My internal standard responses across the calibration curve are: Std 2.0: 4,962,777 Std 5.0: 5,101,901 Std 10.0: 5,320,655 Std 20.0: 5,331,901 Std 50.0: 5,670,527 In this calibration curve, I achieve a %RSD 0.99. Furthermore, the recovery percentages for each analyte are around 90–110% of the standard's true value. However, when analyzing the certified external QC (prepared by spiking 20 µL into 100 mL, as indicated by the certificate), the internal standard response is 5,366,161, but several analytes show recoveries significantly higher than their expected values on the certificate.
