The performance of Agilent nebulizers can be adjusted by switching the type of capillary tubing fitted to the nebulizer.|Precut lengths of narrow bore capillary tubing (0.38 mm ID) with a flared end is recommended for use with barrel nebulizers in Hi-vac mode and with aqueous solutions. Agilent offer replacement 7700, 7800, 7900, 8800, 8900, and 9500 ICP-MS radio frequency (RF) work load coil. A part of the shield torch system, the RF work load coil works together with the plasma torch, long-life shield plate, and bonnet.|The quartz torch for the ICP-MS is located in the center of a cooled copper work coil, through which a high power, high frequency electric current is passed. This creates an intense magnetic field inducing collisions between free electrons and Ar atoms, producing ions and more electrons, and creating or sustaining a stable, high temperature plasma.

Discover our range of demountable quartz torches with platinum or sapphire injectors for ICP-MS. The demountable torch is used when introducing HF digests, and with other sample types including low volume samples, aggressive chemicals and semiconductor applications where the lowest background levels are required. The demountable torch is offered with a choice of injector internal diameters suitable for aqueous/acid matrices and for organic solvents. Replacement outer quartz torch bodies (without an injector) are also available. These demountable torches are typically used as part of the Agilent Inert Sample introduction kits which also include inert PFA spray chamber and transfer tubes.

A number of O-rings are used throughout the current Agilent Mark 7 flame atomization system, and the earlier Agilent Mark VI flame atomization system, including on nebulizer components, the spray chamber and the burner. Regular inspection of the O-rings is recommended, especially when completing routine maintenance on the flame atomization system. O-rings should be replaced if they are perished, show excessive wear or have any nicks or cuts on the surface.|The regular black O-rings are suitable for use with aqueous solutions, including acid digests. For compatibility with organic solvents, perfluoroelastomer (white) O-rings should be fitted. The perfluoroelastomer O-rings are suitable for use with both aqueous and organic solutions.

Increases flame atomic absorption sensitivity by 2–3 times over that of normal flame AA
The ACT 80 Atom Concentrator Tube is a quartz tube that is positioned in the air/acetylene flame to increase flame atomic absorption sensitivity by 2–3 times over normal flame atomic absorption. Depending on the element, it improves detection limits by up to 3.3 times.|The tube wall prevents the atoms from diffusing out of the optical path, which increases the residence time of the atoms in the light beam and the absorbance signal. The tube also stops air from diffusing into the flame, preventing oxides that can form and cause poor sensitivity.
An electrically heated quartz cell used for hydride analysis
The Agilent ETC 60 Electrothermal Temperature Controller is an electrically heated quartz cell used for hydride analysis. Since it heats the quartz cell without a flame, the ETC 60, when used with the SPS 4 autosampler and the VGA 77, allows safe, unattended analysis of up to 270 samples with Agilent atomic absorption instruments.|By combining the ETC 60 with the VGA 77, Agilent Zeeman instruments can determine the hydride elements using the vapor-generation technique. The lower atomization temperatures used with the ETC 60 also increase sensitivity by up to 30% compared to flame atomization.
