PoraBOND-Q - elution "upper limit"

Dear Agilent, We consider too use a PLOT PoraBOND-Q (25 m x 320 um x 5 um) for separation of "gasoline like" hydrocarbons (C1-C8+) mixed with light oxygenates (C1-C4 alcohols, C1-C3 ethers) in gas phase samples. We don`t expect or need full separation of all components injected. What are the "upper limits" for this PoraBOND-Q column regarding components? Are aromatics C6-C10, up to naphthalene, expected to elute on PoraBOND-Q? We are able to install a pre-column for backflush of high boiling point components, if needed.

I am confused how this column works in it application bulletin it says"The sample is injected via a normal injection port and is split into the parallel setup of two columns. In this application a short Agilent PoraBOND Q is used to separate the CO2 (and methane) from the permanent gases (first peak composite) before the first peak (helium) elutes from the Agilent CP-Molsieve PLOT column. After helium, all other permanent gases will be separated which include helium, argon, oxygen, xenon, CO and methane. If water is present, it will appear on the PoraBond and will elute after the CO2 peak" How the samples splits into two columns and then combine to one TCD output. Is it a two-column attachment to the valve and switching works, or something else?

We have put in service a 'select permanent gases /CO2 plot GC column' from Agilent Here is the description of this special column "S elect Permanent Gases/CO2 is a set of two parallel columns that combines CP-Molsieve 5Å for permanent gas analysis and CP-PoraBOND Q for CO2 analysis. Column dimensions meet the need for fast separation, lowest level analysis, and quantification of argon/oxygen.
