Cell Physiology
Evaluating Changes in Cell Physiology
Cellular function, particularly in regard to cell metabolism, is still not fully understood. Agilent Cell Analysis technology and assays provide new understanding of cell physiology research, by measuring cell metabolism in real time. These capabilities give researchers the most physiologically relevant data to further their scientific research into cell physiology.

Simultaneously Measuring Oxidation of Exogenous and Endogenous Fatty Acids
The regulation of metabolic pathways and energy expenditure, and how substrate utilization contributes to cell signaling is an emerging interest in metabolic and cardiovascular physiology, immunology, and cancer biology. Of particular interest is the oxidation of fatty acids, both endogenously stored in the cell and exogenously available. XF Palmitate-BSA FAO Substrate and the Seahorse XFe Extracellular Flux Analyzer provide a kinetic, non-destructive way to study fatty acid oxidation in adherent cell monolayers.
The Hitchhiker's Guide to XF Bioenergetic Assays
XF Extracellular Flux technology is commonly used to measure cellular bioenergetics, and determine the role of metabolism in regulating cell phenotype. From measuring basic intracellular mitochondrial function, XF analysis has now evolved to employing multiple assays for the measurement of mitochondrial substrate selectivity and glycolysis. In addition XF Analyzers are also used to measure the function of isolated mitochondria, enabling the examination of mitochondria from multiple samples simultaneously, saving valuable time and resources.
