Advanced Valve System AVS MS

For labs that routinely run high numbers of samples, the Agilent Advanced Valve System for ICP-MS (AVS MS) dramatically increases the productivity of the Agilent ICP-MS systems, while allowing high-matrix samples to be run for extended periods. AVS MS uses an additional pump and switching valve to enable discrete sampling or loop injection operation.

Coupled with the HMI technology of the Agilent ICP-MS systems and routine operation using single collision cell mode (He mode), the AVS MS delivers unmatched productivity for high-sample-matrix analysis in high-throughput laboratories.

Features

Technology Designed, built, and supported by Agilent, combines neatly with the ICP-MS mainframe, and features fully integrated software
The AVS MS loop is filled via a peristaltic pump—not a diaphragm vacuum pump—so sample consumption is low (around 2 mL/min) and there is no vacuum pump and associated pump valve to wear and replace
The system is completely compatible with the Agilent SPS 4 autosampler
AVS MS can significantly improve sample throughput, giving total run times of less than 1.5 min (depending on element list and sample type), which is 2‒3 times faster than normal (continuous) sample introduction
Reduced exposure of the interface to sample matrix gives reduced signal drift and improved short- and long-term precision as well as less frequent cone cleaning
AVS MS can also be combined with Agilent High Matrix Introduction Accessory technology for rapid analysis of samples containing % levels of total dissolved solids. This provides better DLs and freedom from interferences as compared to ICP-OES, all with discrete sampling productivity.

High Throughput Analysis of Rock Digests using the 7700x with HMI and ISIS-DS

Geological exploration and mining generate tens of thousands of samples per week worldwide which must be analyzed quickly and accurately for a wide range of metals. By combining the High Matrix Introduction (HMI), which is standard on the Agilent 7700x ICP-MS, with Agilent’s Integrated Sample Introduction System for Discrete Sampling (ISIS-DS), previously unachievable throughput and stability can become routine. Sample throughput can be increased 4-fold while reducing the matrix load on the plasma and interface by more than 90% compared to conventional ICP-MS.
