Microplastics Characterization in Carbonated Beverages and Apple Juice by LDIR

A rapid, automated approach is described for detecting and characterizing microplastics in carbonated beverages and apple juice following filtration using the Agilent 8700 LDIR chemical imaging system.

Solving Our Plastic Problem: Advances in Microplastics Analysis

Plastic is essential in modern life but is nonbiodegradable primarily, taking up to 400 years to decompose. Production has skyrocketed, leading to widespread microplastic pollution. Agilent is tackling this issue with advanced tools for analyzing microplastics, aiming to better understand and mitigate their environmental and health impacts.

Characterization of Microplastics in Environmental Samples by Laser Direct Infrared Imaging

The chemical composition of microplastics was identified with the Agilent 8700 Laser Direct Infrared (LDIR) chemical imaging system. Ease-of-use and simplicity of creating a library with the Clarity LDIR instrument control software was also shown.

Rapid, Large Area On-Filter Analysis of Microplastics from Plastic Bottles Using Laser Direct Infrared Imaging

Microplastics derived from polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles were analysed on gold-coated membrane filters using LDIR.

Microplastics Characterization in Carbonated Beverages and Apple Juice by Laser Direct Infrared

Microplastics in food and drink raises contamination concerns. This study uses the Agilent 8700 LDIR system for rapid, automated detection in carbonated beverages and apple juice. Samples in plastic, glass, cans, and cartons were analyzed directly on aluminum-coated filters. Using the Clarity software’s particle analysis and microplastics library, PVC and PET were found in all samples, showing the system’s suitability for food safety monitoring.
