Herpes simplex virus (HSV) belongs to the Herpesviridae family of viruses. HSV infects cells of the mucoepithelia or the skin. The antibody reacts with type-specific, i.e. HSV-1, as well as with type-common, i.e. also with HSV-2 antigens.

Ready-to-use polyclonal rabbit antibody provided in liquid form in a buffer containing stabilizing protein and 0.015 mol/L sodium azide.
Autostainer Link 48
The antibody reacts with HSV type 1 specific antigens and with antigens common for HSV types 1 and 2. The antibody reacts with all the majorglycoproteins present in the viral envelope and with at least one core protein as determined by crossed immunoelectrophoresis. Contaminating antibodies to human and bovine serum have been removed by solid-phase absorption. In ELISA the antibody shows no reaction with human and bovine plasma. The antibody shows no cross-reactivity to cytomegalovirus and Epstein-Barr virus.
In indirect immunofluorescence a weak cross-reactivity to varicella zoster virus can be expected if the antibody is used in a relatively highconcentration. However, no cross-reactivity was found when the antibody was tested at a dilution of 1:100.
