Laser ablation (LA) ICP-MS is used for the direct surface analysis of solid samples. The Agilent 7800 and 7900 single quadrupole ICP-MS and 8900 Triple Quadrupole ICP-MS (ICP-QQQ) systems provide high sensitivity, fast acquisition speed and 10~11 orders dynamic range. Combined with sequence control via the ICP-MS MassHunter workstation software, this makes Agilent ICP-MS systems perfectly suited to laser ablation analysis of a wide range of samples. LA-ICP-MS is highly flexible, enabling single spot ablation for inclusion or defect analysis, line or raster sampling for bulk analysis or imaging, and precise depth profiling studies. LA-ICP-MS sampling is applicable to geological, archeological and forensic samples, impurity analysis in various types of material, and for elemental distribution or zonation studies in geochemistry, bioimaging, and environmental monitoring.
