Software Status Bulletin
UV VIS ChemStation G1118AA
Known Problem Report as of Mar 14 2017 10:27AM
Preface
-------------------------
This Software Status Bulletin (SSB) documents all known problems in the software
product designated above. The SSB is derived from Known Problem Reports (KPR)
which result from user problems that have been classified as documentation
problems or software defects. When a KPR is written, an identifying number is
assigned to it, and the KPR is added to the next edition of the SSB.
User inputs that have been classified as Enhancement Requests are not documented
in the SSB. User problems that have been submitted, but that have not been
classified by the time the SSB is generated are not included in the SSB.
How to use the SSB
-------------------------
When you experience a problem with a product, first check this SSB to see if the
problem has been reported already, and if there is a temporary workaround
available for the problem, or if the problem has already been fixed by a new
revision. If the problem is not listed in this SSB then you may wish to report
it to the Response Center or to your field support representative.
To determine if your problem is documented in this SSB, first look in the
Keyword Index section of the SSB. Under each keyword is a listing of one-line
descriptions of related KPRs. If any of these sound like yours, locate the KPR
# in the Known Problem Reports section of the SSB, and read the full KPR. The
KPRs in the Known Problem Reports section are sorted by KPR #.
There are two sections in the SSB:
Keyword Index: This index is categorized by keyword. For each KPR there is a
brief description and a KPR #. A KPR may be associated with more than one
keyword.
Known Problem Reports: This section contains KPRs, with all the available
information relevant to the problem. KPRs in this section are sorted by KPR #.

Keyword:
One-line Description:
Result data corrupted in Multibath dissolution testing
Problem:
When saving dissolution result data in a multibath configuration of concurrent dissolution runs, the data on file are corrupted.
Temporary Solution:
None
Fix Information:
This solution is based on the fact, that a dissolution testing result (in mode multibath dissolution testing) is saved based on the currently selected bath. Fixed in code.
Keyword:
One-line Description:
Long file names not completely printed in reports
Problem:
In many reports long filenames are truncated. All report templates provided must be updated for at least 32 characters. For example the dissolution results report displays method and result filenames truncated.
Temporary Solution:
n/a
Fix Information:
Fixed report generator code.
Keyword:
One-line Description:
Dissolution average profile not printed
Problem:
When setting up a report style using the Dissolution Average Profile graphical element, an error is reported"Dissolution Average Profile not available".
Temporary Solution:
n/a
Fix Information:
Fixed.
Keyword:
One-line Description:
Problem loading Dissolution method from Navigation Bar
Problem:
When loading a Dissolution method in Multibath Dissolution Mode over the Navigation Bar the mode is changed to Dissolution Mode. It is not possible to load Samples over the Navigation Bar in Multibath Dissolution Mode. There is no lost data. Loading the method by the File menu is a good workaround.
Temporary Solution:
n/a
Fix Information:
Fixed in code B.04.02
Keyword: Autosampler
One-line Description:
Pump times incorrect
Problem:
A slight deviation between the configured pump time and the actual pump time has been measured. The measured times are 2-3% longer than the pump times set in the software.
Temporary Solution:
n/a
Fix Information:
Fixed in revision A.10.01.
Keyword: Autosampler
One-line Description:
XY autosampler stops during offline dissolution testing run.
Problem:
If the autosampler is configured with rack code 22 and " First increment x vial number" is selected, the sequence stops at autosampler position 60 during the automated run.
Temporary Solution:
Choose the default setting "First Increment y vial number" or choose the standard rack code 21.
Fix Information:
No fix planned.
Keyword: Communications
One-line Description:
Configuration of new instruments provides empty data folders.
Problem:
Configuration of new instruments by means of the HP UV-Vis Configuration Editor provides the complete data directory structure (e.g. Hpchem\2\Automat,Data, ...), but the folders contain no data files.
Temporary Solution:
On principle, it is not possible for the Configuration Editor to install or copy files. Hence, you have to add further instruments by means of CD Setup to install all data files on your hard disk.
Fix Information:
No fix planned.
Keyword: Data Acquisition
One-line Description:
GPF during dissolution run on Windows 2000 SP2
Problem:
On systems running Windows 2000 SP2 certain dissolution runs might abort with a General Protection Fault (GPF) in module KRNL.exe at 0001:6382. In particular this GPF occurs during long dissolution runs, in the multibath mode and during dissolution runs with short cycle times (< 5 minutes).
Temporary Solution:
In order to avoid this problem on Windows 2000 SP2 the following temporary solution is available: 1. Start the regedit and remove/rename the following entry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\AppCompatibility\ntvdm 2. Reboot the machine in order to make the above setting effective
Fix Information:
Fix under investigation.
Keyword: Data Acquisition
One-line Description:
Blank might become invalid, when changing the sampling system
Problem:
After changing from multicell to any other sampling system the blank becomes invalid, if it hasn't been measured on position 1.
Temporary Solution:
Always measure a blank after switching to the multicell sampling system before proceeding with any sample or standard measurement.
Fix Information:
Fix under investigation.
Keyword: Data Acquisition
One-line Description:
Dissolution run is aborted after clicking on the 'Close' button
Problem:
Clicking on the Close button of the HP ChemStation window ('x' in the upper right corner) during a dissolution run generates the warning "Automation still in progress. Cannot proceed closing Application. OK". Nevertheless after clicking on OK the current dissolution run is aborted (CP_Autom_2:Aborted by operator).
Temporary Solution:
Do not click on the Close button during a dissolution run.
Fix Information:
No fix planned.
Keyword: Data Acquisition
One-line Description:
GUI updates are slowed down when running MCA in the Multibath mode.
Problem:
When running a MCA method in the Multibath Dissolution Testing mode it may occur that the graphical user interface is not updated correctly. This has no influence on the run or the measurement results.
Temporary Solution:
Reduce the evaluation range of the spectra.
Fix Information:
No Fix planned.
Keyword: Data Analysis
One-line Description:
'Used Vessels' is not applied to 'Absorbance' and 'Match Factor' results
Problem:
Even for 'Not Used' Vessels (Dissolution/Setup Vessel Usage) the disssolution result tables 'Absorbance' and 'Match Factor' are calculated (select View/Dissolution Results -> Absorbance/Match Factor) and printed on the 'Dissolution Results' Report.
Temporary Solution:
n/a
Fix Information:
Fix planned.
Keyword: Data Analysis
One-line Description:
Different types of Blank spectra are shown in the Blank Spectrum History
Problem:
In the 'Blank Spectrum History' window of the Multibath Dissolution Testing mode the blank spectra are displayed in different ways : A) Blanks performed in the 'PreRun' are displayed as absorbance spectra. This is correct, because due to time restrictions a Blank measurement in the Multibath Dissolution mode comprises only one measurement. Note: In all other Chemstation modes two measurements are performed during the Blank process. These two spectra are subtracted from each other and the resulting 'Baseline Spectrum' is shown in the Blank Spectrum window. Hence, the Blank Spectrum window shows not the absorbance of the blank but a baseline spectrum B) Blanks performed during the 'Dissolution Run' as part of 'Measure Vessels' are displayed as Baseline spectra although only one measurement is performed. This is not correct, since two spectra need to be acquired to calculate a Baseline spectrum.
Temporary Solution:
n/a
Fix Information:
Fix planned.
Keyword: Data Analysis
One-line Description:
Changes in Calculation Parameter Variables dialog box are not executed
Problem:
If 'Based on Equation' is selected in the 'Calculation' section of the 'Evaluation Method Parameters' dialog box and any of the user defined variables in the 'Calculation Parameter Variables' dialog box is changed (adding or removing checkmarks for 'Use' or 'Prompt' or changing the 'Value' of the variable) without changing the specified equation, the new variable settings are not taken into account for the calculation of the dissolution result.
Temporary Solution:
Whenever the variable settings are changed, change also the specified equation in a simple way that does not effect the calculated result. E.g. add zero or multiply the complete equation by a factor of one.
Fix Information:
Fix planned.
Keyword: Data Analysis
One-line Description:
Measurement cycle control change does not initiate results update
Problem:
If an existing dissolution results file is loaded and the 'Define Control for Measurement Cycle' is changed, no recalculation is forced. If a report is printed, the results for the controls during the run can be wrong.
Temporary Solution:
n/a
Fix Information:
Fixed in code B.04.02
Keyword: Data Analysis
One-line Description:
ChemStation accepts negative values for Tablet Weight.
Problem:
The HP ChemStation accepts negative values for Tablet Weight in the Dissolution
Temporary Solution:
Enter only positive values for Tablet Weight.
Fix Information:
No fix planned.
Keyword: Data Analysis
One-line Description:
Uncorrect calculation of the Match Factor.
Problem:
It is possible to calculate the Match Factor in a wavelength range where one or both of the compared spectra have no data points. Executing 'Match Factor' results in the Match Factor Result '*** Passed ***' even with a Match Limit of 1000.
Temporary Solution:
Make sure that the selected wavelength range is covered by both spectra.
Fix Information:
No fix planned.
Keyword: Data Analysis
One-line Description:
No access to processing parameters, misleading message box displayed
Problem:
In the Advanced analytical setup in spectral processing the parameter dialog boxes are not accessible. Rather than displaying the parameter dialog, a message box stating "No Parameters necessary" is displayed when pressing the Setup button.
Temporary Solution:
n/a
Fix Information:
Fixed the 'more parameters given...' message
Keyword: Data Analysis
One-line Description:
Dissolution results not calculated
Problem:
If a dissolution run is executed, invalid results may be displayed during the run. No results are available with the dissolution table and the profile is not updated.

Fix Information:
Fixed in Rev. A.07.01
Keyword: Load/Save
One-line Description:
Blank Spectrum History is not saved in Multibath Dissolution Mode
Problem:
In the Multibath Dissolution Mode the Blank Spectrum History is not saved with the result file (*.dr).
Temporary Solution:
Print and/or save the Blank Spectrum History manually after the dissolution run has finished.
Fix Information:
Fix planned.
Keyword: Method
One-line Description:
Blank has to be measured twice after switching to a method with only one lamp.
Problem:
When the user switches from a method with both lamps on to a method with only one lamp on, a new blank spectrum has to measured. After the first measurement the Last Blank Spectrum window is still empty. The blank has to be measured again, before a sample or standard spectrum can be acquired.
Temporary Solution:
Measure the blank twice after changing from a method using two lamps to a method using only one lamp.
Fix Information:
Fix under investigation.
Keyword: Method
One-line Description:
Help link for editing post-run sequence lost
Problem:
The problem occurs, when the dissolution run method parameters are edited in the method menu. If one or more actions (apart from 'operator message') have just been set up, the help button cannot be selected for the pre run tab. Instead of help topics for pre run setup the 'Reference Contents' page is displayed. This error does not occur, if the diisolution run tab or the post run tab is selected.
Temporary Solution:
If the help topics for the pre run tab are needed: - Click on OK to exit dissolution run method parameters dialog box. - Open the dissolution run method paramter dialog box again. - Select Help for the pre run tab. - If the correct link is available, do not close the help window, before setting up another pre run action.
Fix Information:

Fix Information:
The error happened when firing an event by changing a table cell. The event firing mechanism was changed in code.
Keyword: OQ/PV
One-line Description:
Crosscontamination test fails in the multibath dissolution mode
Problem:
The crosscontamination test in the multibath dissolution mode might fail, if the the flow test has been performed right before the crosscontamination test. Instead of 100% the result will be around 93% and instead of 0% the result will be around -7% on all tested channels.
Temporary Solution:
Exit and restart the ChemStation Software in between the flow test and the crosscontamination test.
Fix Information:
Fix under investigation.
Keyword: OQ/PV
One-line Description:
Valve Channel not printed on Flow Rate Test Report
Problem:
After the OQ/PV the Valve Channel Number is not printed on Flow Rate Test Report.
Temporary Solution:
Note the valve channel on the report.
Fix Information:
Fix planned.
Keyword: OQ/PV
One-line Description:
Filename of the dummy bath driver for OQ/PV DDE Interface
Problem:
The filename of the dummy bath driver 'dummy.exe' which is used for the OQ/PV of the dissolution system does not match with the filename 'dummy16.exe' which is given in the OQ/PV manual.
Temporary Solution:
Use dummy.exe instead of dummy16.exe.
Fix Information:
Since Software Revision A.07.01 includes a 32-bit driver the filename 'dummy16.exe' is a wrong association. Therefore, the filename will remain 'dummy.exe'. Instead the filename will be changed in the next issue of the OQ/PV manual.
Keyword: Print
One-line Description:
System hangs up when a printer is installed during a dissolution run
Problem:
Using Start->Settings->Printers->Add Printer to install a new printer to the PC after a dissolution run has been started may cause the ChemStation software to hangup. In this case the system has to be restarted while all measured data are lost.
Temporary Solution:
Do not add a new printer during a dissolution run.
Fix Information:
No fix planned.
Keyword: Print
One-line Description:
Method Information is truncated on printed reports.
Problem:
The entered text for 'Method Information' in the 'Product, Bath and Info Method Parameters' dialog box is truncated on the printed report, if the defined number of rows for 'Method Information' in the choosen 'Report Style' is not large enough.
Temporary Solution:
