Accredited Calibration : UNITED KINGDOM
A Summary of our UKAS Accreditation
Since first gaining British Calibration Service
(forerunner to NAMAS and UKAS) accreditation in 1984, we have always
ranked amongst the country's top echelon of Standards Laboratories
and are authorized to provide some of the highest accuracy calibrations
available outside of the National Physical Laboratory itself.
Collaboration with UKAS has established innovative process management,
augmenting this technical leadership by enabling certification to
be undertaken throughout the 1200 square metre facility as well
as two mobile laboratories, utilizing thousands of items of test
equipment. Such facilities are unique in Britain.
These resources, including extensive use of ATE, maximize our capacity
to cope with high volume, multivendor, fast turnaround or state-of-the-art
equipment. |

Features
- UK's largest
accredited commercial facility for electrical calibration.
- Internationally accepted and recognized
certificates, compliant with EA and ISO/IEC17025 requirements.
- Critical for other accredited test and
calibration laboratories.
- Broad accredited electrical capability.
- Comprehensive reports provide confidence
(of integrity) in the tested product's full specification.
- Service also available on-site in our
Mobile Calibration Laboratories or, where suitable, in the customer's
facility.

How the Accreditation Helps You
In addition to reviewing aspects of the quality system associated
with testing, UKAS also examines and monitors technical proficiency,
often co-opting the assistance of metrology experts from NPL. For
equipment users complying with commercial or military quality standards
(ISO9001, NATO AQAP, etc.) the onus for ensuring subcontractor technical
competence is much simplified, minimizing the purchasing and QA
overhead.
Our Process Assures Your Confidence
Our extensive accredited capability supports our practice of providing
assurance in a product's full published specification through our
comprehensive testing program. Our thoroughness ensures your confidence
that your equipment will meet your full needs, not just at the tested
points.
Certificates are designed for clarity and aid your understanding
of the equipment's performance. To achieve this, data is provided
"as-received" and, (if applicable) after corrective action
-- refer to the Adjustment Dilemma article for an explanation
the importance of this aspect. The certificates usually include
measured values, uncertainties and specification limits (all in
the same units), brief test descriptions and an unambiguous "in-spec"
or "out-of-spec" statement.
Why do People Choose Accredited Calibration?
There are three predominant reasons that some customers opt for
the reassurance of a UKAS certification:-
- Those who themselves provide an accredited testing or calibration
service and who must, therefore, obtain traceability from a "competent
body".
- Those seeking assurance in the technical validity of the calibration
as conferred by national measurement experts and who need the
utmost confidence in the attributed uncertainty. This could be
because the item is their own reference standard from which in-house
traceability is derived.
- Where customers' own Quality departments have prescribed that
a UKAS certificate is preferred or obligatory. This will generally
result from recognition that UKAS' assessment can negate the responsibility
for a detailed vendor audit exercise, greatly reducing the operating
overhead associated with supplier appraisal.
