PCI Express

PCI Express is based on a 2.5-Gb/s serial channel in contrast to the 33/133-MHz multidrop parallel PCI/PCI-X buses. PCI Express can employ up to 32 lanes to push performance up to 80 Gb/s. Therefore, you must learn new physical, data link, and transaction layers to implement a system based on PCI Express.

PCI Express interfaces conforming to the 1.x standard operate at 2.5 Gb/s, while the new 2.x devices will support 5.0 Gb/s. Designers need wide bandwidth measurement tools to aid quality interconnect design and protocol analysis.

Industry Segments

  • The Test Portfolio for PCI Express 2.0
PCI Express 2.0 interfaces conforming to generation 2 standard will start shipping by the end of the year 2006. Designers need wide bandwidth measurement tools to aid quality interconnect design and protocol analysis.
