DisplayPort

DisplayPort is the new digital display interface for computers, monitors and home-theater systems aimed at lower implementation costs and improving video performance. While the signaling is not compatible, it does allow pass through of DVI or HDMI signals.

DisplayPort supports 1 to 4 data pairs in a Main Link that also carries audio and clock signals, with a transfer rate of 1.62 or 2.7 Gb/s. A bi-directional auxiliary channel runs at a constant 1 Mb/s, and serves as main link management and device control. Designers need wide bandwidth measurement tools and quality probing to characterize DisplayPort designs
