OpenLab Sync

Guidance at the bench

Manage Sample, Workflow, and Experiment Data Across the Lab

  • OpenLab Sync combines LIMS, ELN, and LES capabilities in a single system for managing samples, experiments, and workflows across the lab. It brings together sample tracking, workflow management, experiment management, and guided protocol execution at the bench to support consistent, traceable laboratory operations across pharma, environmental & food testing, NGS, and biobanking.
  • By digitalizing your lab operations, it simplifies the intake of requests and streamlines task management. It guides users through workflows, ensures equipment and consumables are fit for purpose, and connects to your instruments, complementing chromatography and mass spectrometry software.
  • Data integrity and compliance – For laboratories that must follow the compliance guidelines of FDA 21 CFR Part 11, EU Annex 11, GAMP5, ISO/IEC 17025 as well as HIPAA and ISO/DIS 20387.
  • Experiment management – Capture and manage experiment data, notes, SOPs, and results in a traceable format, from free notes to more structured approach.
  • Instrument and system integration – Integrates with Agilent and non‑Agilent instruments, the OpenLab portfolio, and business systems such as SAP, to connect data across the lab.
  • Flexible deployment options – Run in your own environment or in the cloud, with flexible deployment and access through a web browser.

Overview

Digitize lab operations

Features and functionality that help labs digitize operations, standardize workflows, and support regulatory requirements.

Why labs choose OpenLab Sync

Easy integration across instruments and systems

OpenLab Sync streamlines connectivity across your lab by automatically generating sample sheets and retrieving results from a wide range of instruments and data systems. Integrate with NGS sequencers, QC systems, LC, GC, MS, ICP instruments, and chromatography data systems such as OpenLab CDS to keep sample and result data connected across workflows.

Flexible deployment

OpenLab Sync offers flexible installation options, deploying to either a virtual or physical server. SLIMS can be used in the cloud on a scalable, powerful, secure virtual server, or installed on a server within your IT infrastructure.

Applications and industries

Designed to support diverse laboratory workflows, from pharmaceutical research to biobanking, NGS, environmental, and food testing.

See what our customers are saying

"OpenLab Sync (previously SLIMS) became crucial to our activities and is now the keystone of all out operations. SLIMS is used daily by our team members. It not only simplifies our access to data or replaces repetitive tasks, it seamlessly ensures traceability in compliance with our high-quality standards, it integrates analytical equipment to accelerate day-to-day laboratory procedures, and it serves as repository for SOPs and important documentation."

—Nestlé

"OpenLab Sync (previously SLIMS) brings together different management systems for reagents, antibodies, mice, everything... all in a single system. There's a depth and a richness to what's being captured that didn't exist before."

—Dr. Óscar Marín Professor, King's College London

"OpenLab Sync (previously SLIMS) is a great solution for our biobanking activities. The integrated ELN is an indispensable tool – we use it to track all our sample activities. The SLIMS workflow module is an innovative tool that allows us to register our studies in a dynamic environment. SLIMS is flexible to our needs and a lot of this can be done by the user. Moreover, if we have a complex request or integration issue, engineer support is great."

—Uza

"OpenLab Sync (previously SLIMS) was selected to manage our biobank and cohort, establishing the continuous observation and follow-up of the chosen subject pool. SLIMS’ features makes it easy to enroll subjects and monitor their progression in the cohort and to provide easy access across different institutions, yet comply with data protection and subject protection needs."

Frequently asked questions

Did OpenLab Sync replace Agilent SLIMS?

OpenLab Sync is the next generation of Agilent SLIMS. The previous name no longer accurately reflected the product’s expanded functionality. OpenLab Sync better reflects the addition of digital protocol execution for QC labs—connecting people, processes, and systems at the point of work. The new name also aligns with Agilent OpenLab software portfolio and unified user experience, while maintaining the same core functionality and support for our customers’ use cases.

What makes OpenLab Sync different from other LES solutions?

OpenLab Sync is not introducing a new category—it applies established LES principles in a way that works for QC labs. Its differentiation focuses on the analyst: a guided, analyst-centric user experience designed for real-time use at the point of work. This role-based approach helps reduce ambiguity without disrupting existing CDS or LIMS environments.
