Accurate Characterization Of Proteins

Confirmation of intact protein mass, major glycoforms, and other post-translational modifications (PTMs) are all critical measurements for characterizing therapeutic proteins and understanding their efficacy and stability. Mass spectrometry is the primary tool that enables all of these measurements on a single platform with high mass accuracy, specificity and sensitivity.

LC/MS has been widely used in the biopharmaceutical industry for therapeutic protein molecular weights confirmation. The accurate mass measurement helps to determine whether the correct protein sequence has been expressed with the expected PTMs. It also provides relative abundance of different proteins or PTMs present in the same sample. A high resolution and high sensitivity mass spectrometer will facilitate this analysis.
