Professor – Chemical & Environmental Engineering
Professor (Joint) – School of Public Health
Professor (Joint) – Soil, Water, & Environ. Science
Co-Director – AZ Lab. for Emerging Contaminants
Co-Director – Water & Energy Sustainable Tech. Center
University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ USA

Dr. Shane Snyder is a Professor of Chemical & Environmental Engineering, and holds joint appointments in the College of Agriculture and School of Public Health, at the University of Arizona. He also co-directs the Arizona Laboratory for Emerging Contaminants (ALEC) and the Water & Energy Sustainable Technology (WEST) Center. For nearly 20 years, Dr. Snyder’s research has focused on the identification, fate, and health relevance of emerging water pollutants. Dr. Snyder and his teams have published over 175 manuscripts and book chapters on emerging contaminant analysis, treatment, and toxicology (H-index = 55 as of September 2015). He currently serves as an editor-in-chief for the international journal Chemosphere. Dr. Snyder has been invited to brief the Congress of the United States on three occasions on emerging issues in water quality. He has served on several US EPA expert panels and is currently a member of the EPA’s Science Advisory Board drinking water committee. He was recently appointed to the World Health Organization’s Drinking Water Advisory Panel and was a member of the US National Academy of Science’s National Research Council Committee on Water Reuse. Dr. Snyder also is a Visiting Professor at the National University of Singapore and an Adjunct Professor at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology in South Korea.

Pietro Morlacchi, Ph.D.
Institute Research Investigator - Metabolomics
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center
Institute for Applied Cancer Science

Dr. Pietro Morlacchi is a Research Investigator at the Institute for Applied Cancer Science (IACS), where he is responsible for the metabolomics platform that supports drug discovery, target validation and transition of novel drug candidates to clinical trials.

Dr. Morlacchi graduated with a master’s degree in chemistry from the University of Rome, La Sapienza in 2004. His thesis focused on the elucidation of the mechanism of replication of the hepatitis C virus (HCV). In 2005, he was awarded a pre-doctoral scholarship by the Robert A. Welch Foundation to pursue a doctorate degree in chemistry at Rice University.

After graduation, Dr. Morlacchi moved to MD Anderson Cancer Center for his postdoctoral training in the Department of Experimental Therapeutics.

In 2013, he transferred to the Department of Genomic Medicine to complete his training, and, in collaboration with Agilent Technologies, developed the metabolomics platform in the premises laboratories of the Institute for Applied Cancer Science (IACS), an industry-inspired scientific center that is a part of the Moon Shots Program at MD Anderson.

Jennifer Molina, Ph.D.

Institute Research Scientist
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center
Institute for Applied Cancer Science

Dr. Jennifer Molina is a Research Scientist at the Institute for Applied Cancer Science (IACS). She graduated from Columbia University in 2004 with a Master of Science degree, focusing on the molecular mechanisms of atherosclerosis.

She moved to Texas in 2005 to pursue a doctorate degree in biomedical science with a focus on brain cancer research at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. For her postdoctoral training, Dr. Molina worked in the Department of Systems Biology, where she focused on breast cancer and mechanisms of energy metabolism.

Upon completion of her postdoctoral fellowship in 2015, she joined the Institute for Applied Cancer Science at MD Anderson, which is a Moon Shots Program focusing on discovering and developing novel cancer therapies.
