Agilent Technologies Setting New Standards in Mass Spectrometry, Lab Productivity
Company to Introduce New Scientific Research Instruments and Software at Korean Society for Mass Spectrometry
SEOUL, South Korea, Aug. 19, 2014
Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced it will introduce a new range of laboratory solutions at the Korean Society for Mass Spectrometry (KSMS) 2014, Aug. 20-22. The new collection of instruments, software and services is intended to help scientists and researchers in Korea push the boundaries of achievement and transform laboratory productivity.
The new solutions include the Agilent 7010 Triple Quadrupole GC/MS System, a high-efficiency electron ionization (EI) source that enables attogram detection limits. This capability is an industry-first for an EI GC/MS/MS system. The improved sensitivity means lower detection limits, increased confidence in results at all measurement levels, and the ability for users to significantly streamline sample preparation procedures. This is the first significant innovation for EI design in decades and is valued by lab professionals challenged by stringent regulatory guidelines and ever-increasing workloads.
The new flagship triple-quadrupole mass spectrometer for LC/MS applications, the Agilent 6495 LC/MS Triple Quadrupole system, will also be showcased. This is a high-performance instrument designed for both routine laboratory analysis and the most challenging quantitation in life sciences, food and environmental applications. Laboratories can use it to screen, identify and quantitate multiple pesticide residues. Pharmaceutical researchers can use it for rigorous drug and protein quantitation.

Other new solutions that will be discussed with customers and partners at KSMS 2014 include:
- The Agilent 6120VL, an entry-level mass detector based on the company's proven single-quadrupole LC/MS technology. This new affordable single-quadrupole MS system is fully integrated with Agilent's UHPLC systems and will allow academic, industrial and pharmaceutical laboratories to benefit from the analytical advantages of mass detection.
- Software capabilities for control of supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC/MS) in all of Agilent's LC/MS instruments. Used together, these hardware-software solutions for SFC/MS will further streamline the high-volume analysis of complex samples, making them ideal for use in pharmaceutical, food science, lipodomic, metabolomic, environmental and petrochemical industries. Agilent now supports the full range of separation techniques - GC, CE, LC and SFC on a single software platform.
- The new MassHunter Quantitative Analysis software with Target Deconvolution for users to effectively remove background matrix ions from data and easily produce targeted quantitative and qualitative results from complex samples.
- New application-specific LC columns to help increase laboratory throughput and provide rapid, reproducible, high-resolution results for critical applications. The AdvanceBio Glycan Mapping Column is designed to deliver fast, high-resolution glycan separations, while the Poroshell HPH-C18 and Poroshell HPH-C8 chemistries are ideal for high-pH applications.
- Two new solutions for automated protein sample preparation - the AssayMAP Phosphopeptide Enrichment Solution and the Affinity Purification Workflow Solution. These are designed to help customers optimize even the most challenging protein sample preparation workflows.
- An addition to Agilent's full line of pesticide monitoring and analysis solution, the new Personal Compound Database and Library is for use with GC/Q-TOF mass spectrometers. This full-spectrum Pesticide PCDL enables clear and decisive identification of even the most challenging pesticides and unknown contaminants.
KSMS 2014, the industry's leading annual conference, is organized by the Korean Society for Mass Spectrometry to encourage knowledge-sharing among the country's top scientists and researchers and to expand the application of mass spectrometry in various fields. The conference is held at the Jeju International Convention Center on Jeju Island, South Korea. Agilent will be at booths 1-3 at the Convention Center's Samda Hall. As a Diamond sponsor of KSMS 2014, Agilent will also host a user meeting on Aug. 20 and a luncheon seminar on Aug. 21.
