SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 25, 2008 Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced a series of new features in a firmware update for its Mobile WiMAX Test Set. This update provides faster data throughput, idle mode support, downlink (DL) MAP logging and MIMO fast feedback -- the latest set of enhancements in the E6651A's portfolio of solutions for mobile device design and integration test covering the entire R&D lifecycle. Agilent will showcase the E6651A - including these latest features - at the WiMAX World 2008 Conference and Expo, Booth 1030, in Chicago, Ill., Sept. 30 - Oct. 2. Agilent will also display a full complement of WiMAX(tm) and Mobile WiMAX(tm) test solutions for R&D, design verification, manufacturing, protocol conformance, and interoperability test, as well as network deployment and maintenance. Details of the E6651A firmware update include:
Agilent's E6651A can be used for RF, functional and protocol test and is at the heart of protocol conformance test (PCT) solutions. PCT is a vital part of the WiMAX Forum(r) certification process, ensuring that the latest WiMAX technologies are delivered with a high degree of device interoperability. Today, more and more 3.5 GHz Mobile WiMAX designs are being developed, prompting the WiMAX Forum to begin accepting products for 3.5 GHz validation and certification testing program. To maintain its central role in PCT, Agilent -- with its E6651A and N6430A PCT solutions -- has started 3.5 GHz test case validation and expects to have validated test cases available soon. This will ensure that Agilent's customers can test their devices against the latest WiMAX Forum certification requirements. "Faster data throughput test and ongoing 3.5 GHz PCT validation demonstrate our commitment to leading-edge WiMAX test solutions across the entire R&D lifecycle," said Niels Faché, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Mobile Broadband Division. "Providing a broad set of high-performance test solutions designed around a common platform improves test efficiencies for our customers and speeds their WiMAX deployment." The Agilent E6651A Mobile WiMAX Test Set is the industry's first integrated test set for testing mobile WiMAX devices. It offers a unique combination of flexible base-station emulation and RF parametric tests for subscriber station tests in one integrated unit, with support for IEEE 802.16e 2005 PCT. It provides instrument-grade RF signal generation and signal analysis capability up to 6 GHz and is capable of addressing current and planned WiMAX profiles. A full suite of RF measurements can be used for characterization, calibration and verification of WiMAX transmitter and receiver performance. U.S. Pricing and Availability Agilent's firmware update to the E6651A is now available free of charge to existing customers. It can be downloaded from www.agilent.com/find/e6651a_software. New customers will receive the update as part of the E6651A's standard feature set. To provide its U.S. customers added purchasing flexibility, Agilent has partnered with a number of companies to create various new financing options. As a result, the E6651A can now be leased-to-own for 18 months from TRS-RenTelco or leased for 24/36 months from GE Capital. The TRS-RenTelco lease-to-own program provides a lease rate that is the list price divided by 18, with the 18th payment being free. It also offers a $1 buyout fee to take ownership of the unit at the end of the lease. The GE Capital leasing options provide low monthly payments, end of term flexibility and no risk of ownership.
