Agilent Technologies' DisplayPort Sink Test Platform Qualified by VESA

Agilent's Test Setup Enables Fully Automated Receiver Tests with J-BERT N4903A and ParBERT 81250A

SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 2, 2008

Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced that the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) has qualified its DisplayPort physical layer sink test platform. During the qualification event, Agilent's solution went through a rigorous testing process evaluating measurement results and the level of automation provided by various test configurations. In addition, Agilent's DisplayPort receiver characterization and compliance test software qualified for automating the test setup.

The test solution included the Agilent J-BERT N4903A high-performance serial BERT or ParBERT 81250A as stressed signal generator, the new N4915A-006 DisplayPort ISI generator and W2641A DisplayPort test fixture.

In February 2008, VESA qualified Agilent as physical layer transmitter compliance test vendor for its DSO90000A Series high-performance oscilloscope.

"We are very pleased to fully certify the Agilent test solution with this qualification," said Bill Lempesis, executive director at VESA. "Using the Agilent DisplayPort test setup will allow test labs to meet the DisplayPort standard, reduce test time and increase throughput."

"Naturally, we are excited to have been again qualified by VESA for DisplayPort sink testing," said Brian Fetz, DisplayPort program manager of Agilent's Digital Test Division. "Along with our partner BitifEye, who provides the receiver test automation software, we are committed to help drive the future of the DisplayPort interface and will stay focused to enabling our DisplayPort customers. Providing solutions that range from manual test to fully automated is indicative of our commitment. "

Benefits of the Agilent DisplayPort receiver test solution include:

  • high signal performance with low intrinsic jitter;
  • fully automated receiver tests, including system calibration and control of the Auxiliary Channel;
  • rapid test execution;
  • consistent results;
  • software support with the popular N5990A test automation software platform; and
  • investment protection for installed J-BERT N4903A and ParBERT 81250A base.
