Agilent Technologies Introduces Evaporative Light Scattering Detector for Sensitive, Universal LC Detection

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Dec. 3, 2007

Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today introduced the 1200 Series evaporative light scattering detector (ELSD) featuring sensitive and reliable universal detection. This liquid chromatography (LC) detector provides the highest sensitivity, efficiency and reproducibility available in evaporative light scattering detection. The detector is ideally suited for the analysis of non- and semi-volatile compounds, and features high and real-low temperature evaporation.

The Agilent 1200 Series evaporative light scattering detector also offers:

  • applicability for Rapid Resolution Chromatography (RRLC) with peak widths of one second;
  • complete implementation into the Agilent 1200 Series LC platform with control and data evaluation by the Agilent ChemStation or the next version of Agilent EZChrom Elite, available in spring 2008;
  • the availability of four nebulizers to cover all HPLC techniques from low µl- to semi-preparative flow rates; and
  • convenient front access for user-friendly inspection and maintenance.

"The ELSD is an ideal complement to the complete 1200 Series LC detector line," said Agilent product manager Heinz Goetz. "It adds universal detection in isocratic and gradient analyses independent of a compound's absorbance, fluorescence or electro-activity. It also sees compounds not detected by LC/MS because they are non-ionizable."
