Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced that SELEX Sensors and Airborne Systems (SELEX S&AS) in the United Kingdom has signed a three-year agreement to use Agilent's Advanced Design System (ADS) electronic design automation software platform for its RF and microwave design work in the defense industry in the U.K. SELEX S&AS, a Finmeccanica company, is one of Europe's leading defense electronics businesses. The company develops surveillance, protection, tracking, targeting and imaging systems for defense applications. The three-year agreement includes ADS licenses, training and premium on-site technical support. "We selected Agilent's ADS as the cornerstone of our microwave design toolset because of Agilent's superior simulation technology and flexible options for access to this software, along with its on-site support and training," said Melvin Simpson, engineering director for SELEX S&AS. "The complete software and support package allows us to maximize the return on our design tools investment." ADS offers a complete set of system and circuit simulation technology and instrument links for RF and microwave circuit and system design in a single, integrated flow. It features a complete set of simulation technologies, ranging from frequency- and time-domain circuit simulation to electromagnetic field simulation. This allows designers to fully characterize and optimize designs ranging from RF/microwave modules to integrated MMICs for communications and aerospace/defense applications.
