Agilent commits dollars and resources to China earthquake relief

Agilent has committed a combination of cash and resources to China in the wake of the devastating earthquake in China's Sichuan Province. Agilent's Chengdu Instruments Division, located approximately 59 miles from the quake's epicenter, is one of the company's major R&D and manufacturing sites.

The Agilent Foundation, the company and its employees have collected or committed more than $800,000 in assistance, including:

  • $25,000 donated by the Agilent Technologies Foundation to the U.S. Red Cross, designated for the China earthquake relief effort.
  • $100,000 collected to date from Agilent employees worldwide.
  • $100,000 matched to date by the Agilent Technologies Foundation, being donated directly to the Red Cross specifically for China earthquake relief.
  • $150,000 committed by the Agilent Technologies Foundation to Teachers Without Borders, to be applied toward the rebuilding of the Dujiangyan education system in Sichuan.
  • $330,000 in liquid chromatograph/mass spectrometer equipment being donated for food-safety testing.
  • $115,000 in spectrum analyzers delivered to China Mobile within four and a half hours of the earthquake.

On May 20, Agilent was one of 50 companies recognized by the Chinese ambassador to the U.S. for its fast response to the disaster.
